Introducing the Center for Advanced Pediatrics: a better way to treat children with complex care needs.
At Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, we see so many patients with complex conditions who require frequent visits to different specialists and clinics — like Caleb, a 6-year-old with cystic fibrosis. He and his family face the challenges of coordinating care with different teams and traveling to different physicians multiple days a week. We knew there had to be a better way.
Which is why we’re incredibly proud to announce the Center for Advanced Pediatrics — a new, 260,000-square-foot facility that will bring pediatric clinics and specialists together under one roof. Centrally located in Atlanta right off I-85 at North Druid Hills, the Center for Advanced Pediatrics will exist to better serve patients with complex conditions. By having their care all in one place, we can ease the hassles these families face and give these kids more time to focus on being, well, kids.
“”The Zeist Foundation is incredibly proud to invest in the new Center for Advanced Pediatrics and support this innovative model to provide care for our community’s children battling the most complex of medical challenges.
“”The Center for Advanced Pediatrics will be a pediatric destination for the Southeast that will combine the provision of complex medical care and clinical research capabilities into one facility.
“”Once the new facility is available, we will truly have a ‘one-stop shop’ experience. Because germ control is critical for keeping our son healthy, the less we can visit the hospital, the better. Managing CF is time-consuming; seeing all of our doctors and completing all of our labs and scans in one location will allow us to be efficient and proactive, keeping Caleb healthier and giving him more time to enjoy being an active 6 year-old boy!
Floor 6 houses the Multi-specialty Clinic for Children, which itself encompasses 20 specialty offerings, and the Sibley Heart Center, which gives you access to more than 50 pediatric cardiologists in 24 locations across the state.
Almost an entire floor of the new building will be dedicated to treatment and research for breathing and airways, bringing together the areas of pulmonology, allergy/immunology, cystic fibrosis and sleep.
The fourth floor houses our neuropsychology team, which focuses on the relationship between the brain and behavior, including the diagnosis of brain pathology through the use of psychological tests and assessment techniques.
The third floor includes treatment for pediatric feeding disorders and endo/diabetes, which all result in a number of detrimental outcomes that can affect the whole body. Because these are complex conditions, specialists need to provide coordinated, comprehensive care.
Each floor is designed with patient and family comfort in mind, with clinic areas, family respite areas and research space. For clinicians, it will be easier than ever to get a sidebar consult on a patient they share clinically.
The first floor houses our pediatric otolaryngologists (ENTs), audiologists, therapists, and phlebotomy staff, who work together to provide comprehensive, safe, child-friendly care for all kinds of childhood illnesses, conditions or injuries.
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta treats hundreds of kids like Caleb every single day. Their complex illnesses require a lifetime of treatments. But by providing a single center where these kids receive care, we’re helping to bring them one step closer to experiencing life as an active, happy child. Every dollar you invest helps us lay the groundwork for this incredible new facility that will change the lives of children with complex conditions, as well as the lives of their families.
Naming opportunities are available for donors who wish to make an investment of $20,000 or more in the Center for Advanced Pediatrics. These gifts give you the opportunity to make a profound impact in the lives of children with complex conditions, and helps us achieve our goals of providing the best integrated care possible for these kids and their families.
